Keeping Christmas Going... Just A Little Longer!
With the usual from Mariah Carey, Slade and Cliff, plus eight band and choir concerts, a local festival and a pantomime too - that's what we treated our listeners to over the festive period.
As with every December, it's a very busy time for our volunteer programme makers and editors. Outside of Coast FM, work and what's going on at home has to be sorted ready for the big day, but our team also found time to bring West Cornwall's life to you at home through the power of radio.
Four years in a row, The Gweek Panotloons have produced a specially adapted pantomime for Coast FM. For 2026 it was The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Tim Ashley was out and about again in Penzance, capturing the atmosphere of Montol, a celebration of the Winter Solstice, while Peter and Dan Ashley keeping the transmitters warm.
Meanwhile, Martin Holland had a very busy time recording and editing eight Christmas Concerts.
Heamoor, Illogan, Morvah, Paul, St Buryan and St Erth were the locations for the traditional festive concerts - most raising money for local charities and organisations.
As with every performance Coast FM records, we would like to give special thanks to Buccas Four, St Buryan Male Voice Choir, The Celtic Male Ensemble, St Erth Concert Band, Mounts Bay Singers, Mousehole Male Voice Choir, Pendeen Silver Band, Penzance Orpheus Ladies Choir and Pipers Choir for allowing Coast FM to record their fantastic performances and hope to hear you again throughout the year, and at Christmas too.
We'd also like to thank the volunteers and helpers, venues and everyone else who make these performances possible.
