St Ives teenager Molly Hocking has landed a record deal with Polydor Records after being crowned winner of The Voice UK 2019.
The live final of the ITV talent show on Saturday saw the 18-year-old compete against Bethzienna Williams, Jimmy Balito, and Deana.
Molly performed ‘Someone You Loved’ by Lewis Capaldi and ‘Stars’ by Simply Red in a duet with coach Olly Murs. She also repeated her breath-taking performance of ‘I’ll Never Love Again’.
After being announced the winner by public vote, an emotional Molly, who was just 17 when the contest began several weeks ago, said: “Someone pinch me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart I am so so shocked. I love you all.” To which members of the studio audience replied: “We love you Molly.”
To Olly Murs she said: “I am so, so glad you’ve stuck with me through this, and you are my inspiration.”
Her new single ‘I’ll Never Love Again’, was released on itunes shortly after the announcement.
Shops and businesses in St Ives put posters outside their premises last week urging the public to vote for Molly and fans took to social media urging their friends to vote.
