Driver whose car hit parked vehicles in Penzance died of natural causes

An 89-year-old driver who died in hospital after his car hit several parked vehicles in Penzance passed away from natural causes, police have said.

Officers were called to Heamoor at 5.10pm on Friday 7 December following reports of a road traffic collision.

The incident involved a Silver Toyota Aygo and a parked black panel van. A second report was received later where the same Toyota hit two parked cars in Reens Crescent.

Emergency services attended the scene and the driver of the Toyota was taken to Treliske hospital.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Mr William ‘Grevis’ Williams, aged 89, from Newlyn, passed away in hospital on Saturday 8 December as a result of natural causes, not as a result of the road traffic collision.”

Police would ask anyone who witnessed the collision or saw a Silver Toyota Aygo in the area at the time of the collision to contact the Police on 101 quoting incident log number 672, of Friday 7 December.
