The team who delivered the Golowan Festivals over the last three years have been appointed to continue running the event through to 2021.
On behalf of Penzance Town Council, Mayor Dick Cliffe said: “We are pleased to provide the Golowan Festival CIC with more certainty about the future.
“They can now take a longer-term perspective and invest in the development of the Golowan Festival in the knowledge that they will be delivering it for the next three years.”
The Golowan team will be headed in 2019 by director Linda McKechnie, supported by associate directors Alan Shepherd and Martin Venning.
Together they have a combined seventeen years’ experience in organising all aspects of the festival. They are supported by a team including Perfect Events Group and Aventail Security, together with more than one hundred volunteers.
Linda said: “Having enjoyed such successful, award winning Golowan Festivals in 2016, 2017 and 2018, the team at Golowan Festival CIC are really looking forward to continuing to embed this very special festival back in the heart of the local community and to continue to work closely with Plastic Free Penzance in our efforts to make Golowan a ‘plastic-free’ festival.
“Working prudently, innovatively and enthusiastically with all our partners, supporters and business sponsors and by engaging the local community in everything we do, we believe we can not only help the town to enjoy another fantastic festival in 2019 but, looking ahead, we now, thanks to Penzance Town Council, have the continuity - working closely with everyone with the interests of Golowan at heart - to strive to ensure that this precious element of Penzance life remains sustainable for generations to come.”
The Golowan Festival in 2019 will run from Friday 21 June to Sunday 30 June with the St John’s Eve Torchlit Parade on Sunday 23 June Mazey Day taking place on Saturday 29 June.
