Guests evacuated after hotel fire in Mousehole

Firefighters from West Cornwall were called to tackle a hotel blaze in Mousehole on Wednesday.

Crews from Penzance and St Just were called to The Parade at 12:30am after several 999 calls.

On arrival crews reported smoke issuing from the property and requested further support.

A further appliance from Hayle, operational support vehicle from Falmouth and the incident control unit from St Just were mobilised.

A Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews used multiple breathing apparatus sets and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

“Twelve guests at the hotel were evacuated safely and relocated to a neighbouring hotel.

“The fire was contained to the kitchen area and a fire investigation team will be attending later on this morning.”
